ABOUT NEVADA GULCH

A friendly Western "Howdy!" to you.
"Nevada" is not my birth name, but many friends call me "Nevada," a result of my passion for that state and for that magical chapter of U.S. history, the "Wild West." Nevada brims with gulches, so I added "Gulch" to "Nevada," christening myself "Nevada Gulch."
Welcome!
I've called Las Vegas home since 2013, and honestly, I can’t think of a better place to live ... unless you count a remote mountaintop.
Sure, Vegas dazzles with its famous lights, glitz, and endless entertainment — but I live here for something entirely different. Just beyond the city limits lies a world of stunning contrasts: serene deserts, rugged mountains, and wide-open spaces and skies. It's Mother Nature, not neon, that keeps me grounded in this remarkable corner of the world.
While you’re in town, soak in the spectacle, but also take time to step away from the Strip and into the West's wilderness. There’s a quiet majesty in the surrounding landscapes that’s easy to overlook — but unforgettable once you find it.
And if you're hungry for more adventure, Las Vegas is perfectly placed. We’re a springboard to the ghost towns of the Old West and a constellation of national parks: Great Basin, Death Valley, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Bryce Canyon, Zion, and the Grand Canyon. Sedona, Los Angeles, and Palm Springs are each about four hours away. The California state line is just 35 miles west. Arizona? A quick 30-mile drive to Hoover Dam. And Utah awaits you just 85 miles to the northeast. So much natural beauty, all so close.
What gets my heart racing?
I thrill at the moment the house lights dim in a Broadway theater and the overture begins. I’m endlessly fascinated by the gods humans have worshipped through time. And I love peeling back the layers of geology behind the landscapes at which we marvel: What made the Alps rise toward the Swiss sky? What caused Baja California to split from the mainland? Why is Mount Everest there?
